Syllabus

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Pahargaon, Port Blair is inviting application for the post of Lab Technician (Electronics & Communication Engineering) and Instructor (Mechanical)

Qualification Lab Technician (Electronics & Communication Engineering):
Bachelor Degree of Engineering in the respective field from a recognized University
(OR)
Diploma in respective field from a recognized Educational/Technician Institution
(OR)
Senior Secondary pass (10+2) with vocational course certificate in an appropriate trade with 3 years practical experience.

Qualification for Instructor (Mechanical):
Bachelor Degree of Engineering in the respective field from a recognized University or equivalent
OR
Secondary School Exam (10th Std.) or Senior Secondary School Exam (10+2) pass with 3 years Diploma in respective field from a recognized Educational/Technical Institution.
OR
Secondary School Exam (10th Std.) with National Trade Certificate/ITI in an appropriate trade with CTI certificate training and minimum 3 years experience.

Scheme of Examination
Written- 60 Marks (2 hours)
Skill Test- 40 Marks (02 hours)
Eligibility criteria: Must secure minimum cut off marks of 40% in written & skill test.



Syllabus for Lab Technician (ECE)
Written Exam
1. Electronics devices and circuits.
2. Digital circuits
3. Microprocessor
4. Analog and Digital communication
5. Instrumentation and measurement

Skill Test
1. Draw required circuit (Electronics devices and Digital circuit) and Rig up on breadboard and perform experiments to show desired output/results.
2. To write microprocessor programming and perform practical and show desired outputs/results.

Syllabus for Instructor (Mechanical)
Written Exam:
1. Engineering Drawing: Projections of lines and planes, projection of solids, section of solids, development of surfaces, Auxiliary views, intersection of solids, conventional representation, production drawings.

2. Mechanical Engineering Materials: Engineering materials and properties, heat treatment of steels, steels and cast irons, non ferrous metals and alloys, non metallic material & nondestructive testing.

3. Manufacturing Processes: Forming processes, press work, casting processes, welding, machining processes, plastic moulding, Non traditional machining, introduction to CNC, other machining methods, milling & gear cutting, surface finishing, maintenance of machine tools.

4. Thermal Engineering: Fundamentals of thermodynamics, ideal gases, steam and steam boiler, steam nozzles and turbines, steam condensers and cooling towers, heat transfer.

5. Fluid Mechanics and Machinery: Properties of fluid and fluid pressure, fluid flow, through pipes, hydraulic turbines, pumps.

6. Theory of Machines: Fundamental and type of mechanisms, velocity and acceleration in mechanisms, cam and followers, power transmission, flywheel and governors, brakes and dynamometers, clutch and bearings, balancing.

7. Automobile Engineering: Introduction to Automobiles, Transmission Systems, Control Systems, Suspension Systems, Wheels, Tyres, Electrical systems, Automobile Air Conditioning System.

8. Power Engineering: I.C. Engine, I.C. Engine Testing and pollution Control, Air Compressor, Gas Turbine and jet propulsion, Refrigeration and Air conditioning.

9. Metrology and Quality Control: Introduction to Metrology, limits, Fits, tolerance and gauges, Angular measurement, Threads and gear metrology, Testing Techniques, Quality control, Statistical Quality control.

10. Production Engineering: Production Systems, Plant location, plant layout, process planning, production planning and control, work study, work measurement, jigs and fixtures, modern trends inventory controls.

Skill Test:
1. Verify Polygon Law of forces.
2. Find M.A, V.R, Efficiency, Ideal effort lost in Friction for different loads and establish law of  machine for Single purchase crab.
3. Verify of Lami’s theorem.
4. Find coefficient of friction on inclined plane for same surface.
5. Verification of Bernoulli’s theorem.
6. Determine the co-efficient of Discharge of venturimeter.
7. Determine the co-efficient of Discharge of orifice.
8. Determine minor loses in closed conduits due to sudden expansion, sudden contraction, and for various pipe fittings.
9. Determine the Brinell hardness number (BHN) of mild steel specimen.
10. Izod test on M.S. specimen to calculate Shock energy absorbed.
11. Charpy V- Notch test on M.S specimen to calculate impact energy absorbed.
12. Measure the thickness of the given Specimen using Vernier calliper.
13. Measure the diameter of the given Specimen using Screw Guage.
14. Measure of gear tooth elements by using gear tooth vernier.
15. Find the angle of component using bevel protector.
